For our team in Suffolk, achieving beautiful, lasting results is our priority. It’s why we only offer safe, effective treatments at our clinic – and why we always work with our clients to surpass their expectations. One treatment that’s gathering interest lately is microneedling and its sister, radiofrequency microneedling (also called RF microneedling). Find out how the two compare and which could work for you in today’s special blog post.

So, what’s microneedling?

It’s a treatment that involves using very fine, sterile needles to create micro-perforations on the skin’s surface. This encourages the skin cells to heal and renew, which can have great benefits for the tone, texture and radiance of the complexion.

What’s RF microneedling?

Just like standard microneedling, this treatment creates those tiny skin tears. However, it goes a step further by using powerful RF waves to deeply penetrate the perforations. This means you can expect greater results from the procedure – and can even tackle additional concerns.

What are they recommended for?

Standard microneedling – which we love to carry out here in Suffolk – creates subtle rejuvenation in the skin. Conversely, radiofrequency microneedling works more deeply within the skin’s layers for elevated results. While the former is great for fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring and stretch marks, radiofrequency microneedling goes a step further, smoothing to a greater degree while firming and addressing pore size and skin tone. It also encourages greater production of collagen and elastin – the key proteins that give skin its youthful bounce and radiance.

What about healing and side effects?

You might experience some mild side effects with microneedling, such as redness; tenderness; and slight swelling. However, these typically pass in a few days. If you’re at all concerned, talk to our Suffolk aesthetics team. And don’t forget to follow our detailed aftercare advice.

Which treatment is best for me?

We’d recommend a personal consultation at our Suffolk skin clinic to find out more about these treatments, see what’s involved in your recommended procedures, and get to know us better. We find this makes our clients feel confident, comfortable and well-informed. It’s also an opportunity for us to delve deeper into your skin and medical history, making tailored recommendations for lasting results you’ll love.
