We love dermal filler treatment here at our Suffolk skin clinic, not least because it can save you the time, discomfort and expense of going under the knife! In fact, dermal fillers are one of the most popular facial aesthetics treatments here in the UK, and after reading our quick guide, you’ll have more of an idea why…

Key areas for treatment

The first thing to know about dermal fillers is how and where they can be used. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Lips – lip fillers define, shape and volumise the lips
  • Chin – creates structure and can give a slimmer appearance
  • Mouth – fills lines to create a smoother, plumper appearance
  • Cheeks – contours and adds volume to sagging skin
This is by no means a full list, but they are among the most common areas for treatment.

Reasons to have dermal fillers

Our dermal fillers are known for being a top anti-ageing treatment, but what does this mean exactly? Well, it’s all about the structure of your skin. As we age, that lovely, bouncy, supple quality starts to gradually degrade, as our bodies produce less collagen and elastin. This means skin can appear saggy and lose volume, and it can also lead to wrinkles.

Dermal fillers bring back that volume to give skin a sculpted and rejuvenated appearance. They can also help lift the skin, and fill in deeper lines, so you appear smoother and skin is left plump and taut once again.

That magic ingredient…

The key to dermal fillers is the inclusion of hyaluronic acid in the formula. Known for being super hydrating, (which helps give skin that plump look), this incredible ingredient is actually found in our bodies naturally – so there’s less chance of rejection or side-effects than there would be with an alternative.

Hyaluronic acid is broken down and reabsorbed by your body over time, for long-term but non-permanent results, so you can change your approach to the treatment in the future. However, it can also be dissolved with anti-filler injections, which means if you’ve been elsewhere and found yourself dissatisfied with your dermal fillers, you may be able to reverse some of the effects.

There’s nothing to it!

One of the biggest, best things about dermal fillers is the fact that you won’t have downtime to contend with after treatment. In fact, you’re only likely to encounter some mild redness or tenderness at the injection site. Swelling and bruising can occur in some cases too, but all of these side effects are short-lived.
