As facial aesthetic experts, we can offer a range of treatments that help smooth away wrinkles while turning back the clock. One of our favourites is Botox injections, also known as wrinkle relaxers or anti-wrinkle injections, as it helps to give the face a more youthful, relaxed and refreshed appearance.

In this post, we’ll discuss Botox injections in more detail, covering when to receive them, why, and what the results are like. If you’re interested in having it, you can book a consultation at our Suffolk skin clinic by following the directions below.

What is Botox made of?

First, it helps to know a bit more about Botox’s background. It actually comes from a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum which, when injected, blocks signals between nerves and muscles. It’s considered perfectly safe for this procedure, and most people only encounter mild side effects, such as swelling or bruising, after anti-wrinkle injections.

Why should I have Botox injections?

Many of our clients look into Botox because they’ve noticed lines and wrinkles on areas such as the forehead, brows and around the eyes. If these develop before your time, it can make you look older than you are and affect your confidence and appearance. However, everyone has their own unique reasons for pursuing an aesthetic procedure, and some may use Botox as a means to delay the onset of wrinkles.

When should I get the treatment?

As we’ve touched on, some use it as a preventative measure by carefully examining facial movements and expressions. This is because these are the types of actions that lead wrinkles to form – and anti-wrinkle injections target these types of wrinkles specifically.

However, some use it as a treatment for existing wrinkles. Although practitioners can legally perform Botox injections on anyone over 18 (after a consultation), they usually treat people in their mid-thirties and older.

How long do Botox results last?

You can expect results to take a few weeks to fully form, and last between 3-6 months. However, the effects depend on factors such as how many anti-wrinkle injections you’ve had and in which areas, as well as things like metabolism and lifestyle.

Can Botox be reversed?

No, there is no reversal for wrinkle relaxers. Once your practitioner injects Botox, you’ll need to wait for it to wear off or find a way to adjust the results. However, while long-lasting, they aren’t permanent and will fade over time, generally in 3-4 months.
